Good for you on dog treats, here dried sweet potatoes are outragously exspenive !!
This week I made dried apple slices. And made treats for the dog, he loves dried sweet potatoes.View attachment 6306
Today I have more potatoes in. This time I cubed them and they seem more uniform and drying better. I just threw out the last 4 quarts I did. They may not have been dry enough and I put them in jars. I looked and all where molding. This batch will go into seal saver bags with all air taken out. I still have a full crate to process. They are all sprouting BIG time.
I did use a bunch in soup. Still a crate to go. (There where 3 crates!) It is so frustrating as last year we put them in a place that was TOO COLD and all froze solid. This year, too warm and too much light. Got to find the perfect place next year. Jeepers.Carol, when they start sprouting I make vegetable soup and can it in quarts. I freeze veggies especially to go in that soup.
Frustrating isn't it when they start to sprout. I feel like I need to do something so soup it is.
YES I am So far it has not been put in cabinet that I made room for it. Soon. I need my counter space back.Sounds like you are having fun experimenting with your toy. You'll soon get the hang of it and what works best for you.

Yes they are very expensive here, too. I also bake a dog treat he likes that is super simple and very inexpensive. (PNButter, milk and flour!)Good for you on dog treats, here dried sweet potatoes are outrageously expensive !!
Learning as I go.... found out that the dried potato cubes have SHARP corners and I wound up double bagging them as they poked holes in the seal n save bags!So glad you are enjoying your Excalibur!
Thanks for the tip.Wrap in glad wrap first, then food saver bags!
