So there will be a hard freeze this weekend along the coast. Wondering how much piping at the plant will burst. Last plant looked like a sprinkler system when it warmed up.

Makes me glad I didn't buy any of the fruit trees already leafed out and flowering at Home Depot. Right now I only have a few potted plants that I can bring inside.

It doesn't quite hit freezing here according to forecast but Monday morning is supposed to be 35 degrees, enough for me to cover my stuff for the first time this winter. Monday is still a long way out as far as forecasts go but I know where my sheets are and what I'll use to hold them down.

hopefully they know how to keep it from doing that or will shut it down...
There is a freeze plan at our site and most sites. The problems is draining or drip legging literal miles nonheat traced utility lines. Something gets missed, the valve itself cracks or you don't have quite enough flow, etc.

What kind of plant? is this where you work?

Going to be cold up here too. I have cut off valves on my outlying water faucets, so I cut them off, open the faucet and wrap it up with feed bags. Sometimes I put a bucket over the faucet too. The house pipes have never froze. Friday I'll be filling all the outside water tubs. I usually have to tote buckets of boiling water from the house to melt the ice. On the 300 gallon horse tank, I just bust the ice with a shovel and move the ice hunks over so the horses can get a drink.

Forecast is 18f here on Monday. I have some pvc hoops I can put over the peas but I think I will just wait. They are called snow peas for some reason...

edit: Advice gives a temp warning on 19f. Thats gonna be some work for 1f degree.

i've looked like that after some walks in storms. except you would never find me wearing any kind of glasses. i take them off because they would channel the cold and stick to your face in bad ways. full face scarf with a very tiny crack for looking through between moments. you don't always need to see every step. just check once in awhile and then step, step, step, check, blink, step, step, step, ... repeat until home. :)
