I am so excited! I just ordered the Excalibur 3900 dehydrator I have been drooling over for a year now. I did quite a lot of dehydrating last year and was very pleased with the results. With the Excalibur, I can kick it into overdrive and get a lot done. I should get it the middle of next week!
(runs to mailbox-nothing. comes back to computer........)

we bought one last year.worth every penny
just a hint if you load every tray full be ready to turn and switch tray levels to get a even dry.
between drying veggies/herbs and making jerky ours never shut off for a good month.
we did buy a couple books on dehydrating last winter some really neat ideas on drying veggies for soups and stews.

I finally got to use the Excalibur. I am in love! :love I have dried tomato slices, quartered cherry tomatoes and bell peppers-orange, yellow and red. I made strawberry fruit leather and that was yummy! I sliced hash browns yesterday on my mandolin, blanched for 3 minutes, cooled under running water and then dehydrated them. Tonight is eggs, bacon and re-de-hydrated hash browns! We'll try 'em out to see if they are good or not before I dehydrate a bunch of potatoes only to find that I am less than impressed.

This thing is awesome!

Fabulous! I will be anxiously awaiting your report on the potatoes. Still nervous about the 50 pounds we planted!
