I don't know the real name of the flowers. The lady I got them from just called them 9 O'Clock. They are a yellow flower and the stems are about ft tall at full growth. They start blooming at 9 pm in the evening and by 9:20 they are all done. They open fast enough that it looks like someone used time laps photography. It is really neat to watch them.

For the last few years we have had a flower blooming party. I have friends over and sometimes we have potluck type food. This year I served Goat, Deer, and Pork Ribs with sides. This year a friend that makes wine brought several samples of his wares.

Hi--not sure if this has already been posted, but I line my garden paths with old cardboard boxes or newspaper topped with lawn clippings or straw. It feels so good to see it turned into dirt by the next year! We also sprinkle our winter supply of wood ashes all over the gardens. I also use old coffee cans for mini greenhouses and to protect puny plants that need a little help. Great ideas, everyone!

Rocktopsis, I remember some people down the street telling me they had something that they called moonflowers and they only opened at night. I wonder if those are the same ones they are talking about. I will have to look for the formal name and see if they are the same ones you have and they called them something different.

What folks around here call moon flowers are white and grow on a vine. I think this is what I am talking about, looks identical to the ones I am talking about. Or at least I think it is in that family. What I have is much taller and the seed pods are different. But at least the picture of the flower is the same.

I think I know what flower you are talking of I had found some when we lived in Kansas . The ones I found were pink around the edge , white going to yellow in the center.. they to would open after 9am. I searched for a name to put to them, then by chance I looked in a Better Home & Garden magazine and on someone's front garden improvement there they were.. They called them Mexican Evening Primrose... Our neighbor here in Missouri has some very similar and she calls them Cups & Saucers, What ever you call them they are pretty... :happy_flower

the only clever thing I've come up with is taking the wood crate from a crate engine & using as a compost pile 'frame'. Works pretty good so far!

:D You bet he is a keeper :love He will hook the panel up to an inverter to charge a battery to run lights and small fan to circulate air in the chicken coop & duck shed.... So no more extension cords from the tool shed or house.. :ya Pretty Cool huh? :coolsun He had done this for our barn when he built it 4 years ago so we don't have to have electric ran to it at all.
Yeah I think I will keep him around :love kinda like him :bouquet
