My nephew who always looks for ez way out said ball rusted on and to much work to take off. Should I just get adapter Journey posted.I not very mechanical ball doesn't look rusty to me. What do you think?

Threads may be rusty. Try to spray with WD40 and see if it is easier to remove. (I agree nephew was looking for an easy out, too rusty!)

From pix, it doesn't look rusted at all. Just take a pipe wrench and an adjustable wrench with you. Should screw right off. I would like a better pix of what ball is on. Question when ball is off IF you can reach the hole with trailer hitch. If you can't, you will need a flat piece of steel with holes on both ends.
