Measles?

I'm not sure how I feel about the "no-vac" folks. I see good reasons from them, and from the mainstream medical folks, as well. I am glad I don't have to make those decisions at this point in my life.

Those no-vac folk are risking my daughter's life. I've already lost one daughter. I have definite, firm opinions about the people who choose not to vaccinate. :he

Your county is making national news:

Did you have it as a kid? Get vaccinated somewhere along the line? How are family and friends?

Clark County, Wa. has a very large immigrant Ukranian and Russian population and most of them do not trust any government since they fled very oppressive communist dictatorial exisence in their home countries. :barnie Today's left leaning activists are stepping onto and over the line... they know what is best for you, then let you pay for it. :he Most of them do not vaccinate themselves or their children due to lack of trust. I had the measles as a kid in post WW2 in Germany. When we arrived in Elis Island in 1949 , all of us got any and all vaccines that were available then as well as being dusted with DDT. polio vaccine in Davis , Cal. in late `1950' s. I was vaccinated for anti rabies since I worked at UCD Vet Pathology and necropsied all of suspected rabies animals. I also test positive for tuberculosis as I accuired immunity due to exposure to bovine tuberculosis from cattle that I necropsied Annual flu vaccines now. So far, none of my family and friends have the measles as all have been vaccinated. :caf

There were two types of measles "going around" at different times when I was a kid.

Of course, I got both.

My Mom used to say that I had normal hearing before being sick with the measles. It's not just a rash.

I grew up in a hospital compound on the west coast of Alaska in a village called Bethel. Mom ran the laboratory. She had 9 lab techs under her, and besides running all the bloodwork and other hospital needs, she was tasked with vector control of the various diseases as children from the outer fringe villages would come in for the state mandated education program, mix up their colds and so forth, and then go back home to potentially infect the villages. I believe I would not be fibbing if I said I got a shot every month from 1rst through 5th grade. Mostly penicillin in the bottom, but others also of course. If I had a superpower it should be something like being able to touch a tomato plant and watch the early blight fall off of it.
