Michigan

The week end before last we had 18 inch snow fall in one night.....and yesterday here in Northern Michigan it was 60 degrees......I'm hoping this very unusual weather stays for a long time. I've got about 40-50 lambs expected this next month and shortly after that...about 2,000 Dahlia tubers to plant..... I love Spring!

I know you NW Michiganders seem to get a bit more snow then us NE ones. Sounds like you're gunna be busy in the coming weeks. The snow is slowly melting here and I am hopeing to be done with it by the end of this week....need to get started on some yard work once its melted away. Come back and visit us often here, we need to keep this thred active. :)

Mornin everyone :caf

Good morning Rusty!.

2000 dahlia tubers? :th A neighbor gave me about 30 a few years ago and I diligently planted them in spring and dug them up in the fall. Only 1 bloomed once. One whole flower. I said screw it after that. Not worth it. Are you really going to dig them up in the fall? Or do you know of some other trick to keep them from freezing in winter?

As for the weather, the next 10 days are showing 50s for highs on the northeastern side of the mitten. Cooler than when I checked yesterday. Ah well, it's more normal anyway. At least this Wed they're still saying 63 and sunny.

It's been raining here all morning..our lane coming back to the house should be called a river with little lakes every now and then :rant Walked up to place a letter in the mail box(1/2 from house)
In one spot the water almost came to the top of my rubber farm boots! Couldn't believe it....swimming anyone?

We had lakes like that last year in the driveway and on the trails. Lot of rain last spring with lots of snow still on the ground. I'll see if I can find a photo. I know I took more than one.

Good Morning all,

Looks to be a better day then yesterday was. At least it's starting that way. Already 46 and sun is trying to peek out from behind some clouds. The snow is melting fast! DH took down two pine trees yesterday to enlarge the garden. Now time to dig some roots. Sure glad he's got a tractor! Spring is almost here :rose

In 5 minutes it jumped from 46 to 49 and the sun is full out and bright here! High today of 57, tomorrow 63, Thursday 70. Have you seen next week's forecast? It says 82 for Monday! These are the forecasts for Alpena. I think I may take my seeds and a flat of pots out to the deck today and plant some 'maters! :woot

It's 49 here right now...when we went to Alpena earlier it was 52 there. We did stop at TSC looked at the chicks and walked away. Didn't look like they had any special ones. I needed to get a couple larger watering cans for the chicks, two qt ones doesn't do it any longer. Tired of filling 3 times a day. Been outside since picking up all the pine tree roots...what a chore. BUT THE GARDEN IS LOOKING GOOD :celebrate I hope it gets that warm up here next week. Good luck Swampducks on the planting, I was thinking on doing some tomatoes also today.

Our high was 56.6 today but awfully breezy. It's 51 now and still sunny! I sure am enjoying the freaky early warmth. Too bad it will probably bounce back by Easter. But positive thinking! :happy_flower
