Ah, ha! That fence in the background! Of course, I should have known. The fence is hiding the visuals from the tavern, not the sounds.

EXACTLY
Although what you see in that photo is the lattice around the deck. The BIG 8 foot tall board fence is on the other side of the deck and all the way around back yard.

I thought I spotted a tattooed guy guzzling a beer in the peep-hole in the fence in my picture of the cattails and coneflowers. ("and the green grass grew all around, all around, and the green grass grew all around.")

Well that sure is a wonderful accident, it's just beautiful!
Is it completely shaded around the pond where those flowers grow?
My pond is covered in full shade, I have 3 very large, very old oaks in my backyard so the whole back is complete full shade, & it's a task just to keep the grass growing!

I have impatients & ferns in big pots but that's about all I've managed to keep alive in the shaded back yard....
