Crazyfeathers my father tells the story of how when he was a kid, his dad brought home a baby turkey. The turkey was never caged, roamed the yard free, all the kids thought of him as a pet. Thanksgiving came, all the kids cried and refused to eat dinner. His father never did that again.

My dad had some feeder calves. One he called Whitey, at T'giving he had to tell his g'kids that they were eating Whitey. Worse part is Whitey was grass fed and not that good-no fat for flavor.

I always hid in my room and cried my eyes out when the butcher came to do the lambs, but didn't have a problem once they were on my plate.
