i hope libraries will continue to be a thing long into the future. even if hard-copy printing may not be as popular it is still my preference for reading books. imagination from reading is so much different than watching videos. i think someone who doesn't read is missing out on developing an imagination and to me imagination also goes along with being able to formulate solutions to problems or to keep oneself entertained.

in the middle of the winter and having nobody around some people would go nuts without the tv, radio or internet and i do admit that i enjoy having these at times but the internet at least lets me talk to other people in writing which i'd rather do than talk on the phone.

still, i just want a good book and i'm glad there are still authors writing imaginative works. :)

My wife was on the county library board when we were in Arkansas. That was an education in many ways.

Libraries were changing. Instead of mostly being a place where you got books to read or to research certain things, they were switching to electronics and community service. You could still get books and if you wanted one they didn't have they could usually borrow it from another library. A good librarian can be valuable in trying to find out which book you might want.

The county library system was checking out more movies than they were books. They had to stay up with the changing media for books. They provided computers so people that did not have a computer could still access the internet with some restrictions, of course. No pornography for example. They had several programs just for kids. Parents that homeschooled used libraries as a resource.

I could get a tablet and read from that. That's what my wife does but her arthritis might have something to do with that. But I prefer to hold a book in my hand to read. I know I'm an old dinosaur and totally out of touch with today's reality. But I can live with that.

I decided to have dinner at a restaurant for the first time in ages. The Hostess said, I am sorry but we are so busy tonight. Would you mind waiting for a bit?

I said, that's no problem.

She said well then take these drinks to table 10.

🤨 .

at this particular time, with news from some people in the restaurant trenches, this isn't actually far from what is happening some places. the chef has had to be out waiting tables sometimes to help out. nobody wants to come to work.
