I went to our local u-pick farm and got my strawberries, Enough for 3 batches of jam and more to enjoy fresh. I have 2 batches of jam in the cabinet and may freeze enough mashed berries to make another when we run out mid-winter.
Now I suppose you wonder why I used the word STOMPING in my subject line. Well... while I was waiting for the cart to take me back to the hut to pay for my pickings the attendent told me about a family that came to pick on the weekend. When they had all the berries they wanted. The parents set down the flat of berries and went back to get the flag and move it to where they had stopped picking. When they turned around they saw the daughter (about 2 years old) STOMPING the berries in the flat into wine pressings!
Oops.
He thought it was funny , but said Mom and Dad were NOT at all happy. Ya, it might be funny MANY years from now when they telll the story to their Grands. LOL
