Strong Smell Might Be Horse

The general consensus is try a few things at home before seeking professional cleaning.

I can't wait for pics of you, Nyboy, in your lovely purple suit shown above!

That bad odor just may be that that coat was stored and rats / mice urinated on it. I would try some cat potty odor or smelly dog bedding control treatment that you should have available in your arsenal.

That suit is incredible! Certainly museum quality. I would guess in the 5000.00 range. Unless, of course, they know who made it and /or who wore it. That could add to the value considerably. Men do not save clothes the way women do, it seems. Much less men's vintage around. A lot of women buy things and never wear them, so you often find new, old stock. Men generally, use their clothes up and get rid of them! Hang that coat outside for a week and give it the sniff test...you might be pleasantly surprised! Pictures and videos were taken of the fashion show- but of course, I don't have them! It was a fun night though!

Looks like something Beau Brummel would have worn. VERY pretty suit and would go great with my super huge garden hat, I tell ya.

Vintage clothing can be fun. While in high school, my daughter dated a boy whose family were Civil War re-enactors. I made her dresses that she wore to the "ball". It seems after a hard day of pretending to kill each other all day, complete with cannon fire and galloping horses, nothing caps the evening off like a dance. :gig
