Hello There,

I just joined this wonderful website today!
And I wanted to see how many hits I get on who grows Thyme!

So here is the official question: Who here grows Thyme?
What do you use if for? I am hoping you can post some recipes too!

I have been growing Thyme... But honestly I have a real lot to learn.
Have been growing it... Lets see, 2-3 years now?

I find it is a wonderful herb. What does everybody use it for?
So please use this thread as a fun place to express your recipes and feelings on this herb!

Thank you happy hen now I will have Cyndi Lauper in my head all day. I do not cook, when I try bad things happen. I love Thyme as a garden plant, nothing beats a large patch in flower. I was once laying on my stomach planting thyme in between pavers to front door. A neighbor driving by stopped thinking I was having heart attack. Any plant that smells good when you step on it is welcome in my garden. If my nephew really gets bee next spring I will be planting much more thyme.

I grow Thyme but don't usually get much production. My main use is as a flavoring in chicken broth, along with other herbs like oregano, basil, parsley, and chives. We'll occasionally flavor some other things with it but it's not at the top of our herb list.

Thyme does smell awesome! I don't cook with it often, but I would like to more!

Have tried growing it in the past to no avail. Bought a little pot of it this year to plant next to my garden bench. It seems to be doing okay but not super duper. The lemon balm bought at the same time and planted just opposite it is going gangbusters compared to the thyme.

I like to use it in sachets and sometimes in nest boxes but have never used it in cooking.

I grow variegated lemon thyme and creeping red thyme for ground cover and in containers. It loves the strawberry pot. Like @Beekissed I have never cooked with it, DH isn't crazy about herbs in his food. When I trim it I throw it a bowl and set it by my chair until the smell is gone. I sure like the sachet idea!

Yes! I often wanted to use it in the coop. I use it in their water to add a bit of flavor at times,
gotta pamper you egg suppliers!

Oh thyme. I love thyme! Now, granted, I didn't used to. I hadn't been exposed to herb growing and cooking with herbs....till 2014. Then, I ended up with a severe skin rash. Under breasts, In unmentionable areas It took me a bit of online research to figure out how to treat it.
I ended up making thyme teas as well as rosemary, and bathed the rashes several times daily. They cleared up just fine, and haven't returned.

Now, I keep 2 planter buckets full of thyme growing. As well as rosemary, chives, oregano, bee balm, cat nip, mint, and sage. I am learning how to cook with the herbs as well as using them for their medicinal uses.

I have grown every herb on the market. But NEVER used it to cook with! LOL . Guess I just am not a fancy cook at all! IF I really need any in a recipe there is always the stuff in a jar ! DH is fine with that as he tends to like foods plan.
