Vinegar or ammonia will take out the sting and itch of most insect bites or stings if applied promptly~that's supposed to neutralize the venom~I've used it for years for such things and it works well. Some swear by toothpaste...I've never tried that. I've tried the baking soda but wasn't too impressed with the results.

At this point, well after the fact, with the swelling and pain going on in his hand, a good epsom salts soak wouldn't go amiss to take out the ache and inflammation and then my good ol' stand by of castor oil to finish up the job~it will continue with the job of taking out the inflammation.

My uncle is deathly allergic to bees...and I do mean deathly. Will die if he's stung if he doesn't have his epi. Well...one old timer told him if he was out without his epi and could get to a car battery, he could use the battery to shock the sting site and it would immediately stop the process. He was, he did and it did!
