Weather, Where You Are

@Sprinkler Buddy , this is a tough crowd to be talking sunshine and warmth to! Ask me how I know!!

It is raining here, 43* and mud is the new shoe accessory. We are supposed to get sunshine tomorrow, which means I take my mom on her favorite outing--going to WalMart! :tongue But if it makes her happy....... Then rain for the rest of the week.

Glad I'm not in Montana! They're calling for rain/snow/freezing rain/sleet here starting in the next few hours. We're right on the weather line, so they're not exactly sure what we're going to get, but I guess we're getting SOMETHING.

It's sleeting here today as I write this. We are in that "nation wide blizzard' that they are talking up on TV. I had to drive in the noon rush, and I was a little nervous driving with all the crazies in the city, but at least everyone was driving slow--well, almost everyone. Got home safely, only sliding through one red light (!) I was supposed to bring Mom home (well, to the nursing home) from the hospital today, but the doc wanted to keep her one more night. She is very unhappy and I had to leave; didn't want to get stuck there or risk letting the snow and ice get any worse. But I am so glad to be home and warm. I have spent every day for the past week at her side, in the hospital. And I am pretty weary. To say nothing of how weary she is.
@Sprinkler Buddy, I'm ready to take you up on your offer! I don't mind pulling weeds!

What ever makes Mom happy is worth doing for sure!

This morning in SW Washington it is 22.1* wind at 3 mph, with a light frost and crystal clear skies. Forecast of 12* for tonight. About 25 mi. S in Portland, Ore. one school district canceled classes today because it is too cold for children to go outside. HUH ??? My guess is that the school administrators never heard of coats, hats, and mittens. :idunno

Or just walking out of the air conditioned house......shut front door and pop out in sweat. :barnie

Ya'll have every right to a nice long peaceful 'winter'.
I had the opportunity to visit SC and TX for ten days, in JULY a few years back. Let's just say it was a VERY long ten days for someone not accustomed to those conditions! :th

You may be right! I missspent part of my youth in Portland, OR. During that time, there was a dusting of snow in the city and everything was shut down, cars were crashing into trees and each other, it was a mess. Perhaps the large number of hills that make up the city was partly at fault, but I drove comfortably past distraught Portland drivers with nary a problem.

Our school district has been changing what temperature is deemed appropriate for children to go outside. Tsk, tsk, tsk. Freezing temperatures along with a breath of wind and the students are stuck sitting in the gym or their rooms instead of getting some fresh air.

I've gotten "in trouble" for going out with some of my students -- they begged me for recess outside -- when I let those who wanted to stay in go to the gym and the rest of us went out to the playground. I suspect it is the aides and teachers who dislike being out so they proclaim it too cold. It seems we are raising a generation of wusses.

My youngest Grands have snowshoes here so we can get outside when boots are too short for the snow level.
