Well, we're blaming the parents, but the parents may be oblivious. I've known kids to sneak out windows and back doors and get into all sorts of mischief, without the parents suspecting a thing.
A psychologist once told me that modern houses, with the parents' "suite" on one end of the house, and the kids' bedrooms on the other (or another floor) is the cause of a lot of teen "running wild" and such. It just is a set up for trouble. Add that to the fact that teenagers' biological clocks are different from ours, and they are wide awake and ready to rumble when the parents are headed for bed.

@so lucky you are so right, I was a pro sneaking out at night, even learned to push car down driveway before starting. If my parents only knew half the thing I did while they thought I was home in bed.

Ooh, I am remembering some of the things my youngest son did. Nothing like getting that phone call in the middle of the night from the cops, when you thought the kid was asleep downstairs.

Remember where I grew up NYC was a 15 min train ride, $1.10 each way. teenager in city can get in a lot of trouble. None of the bars or nighclubs ID for drinking age.
