I think they look prehistoric! Those and also the Tree Ferns!

Do you have some?

I once saw a planting that had a huge Ponytail Palm like this:

and it had cycads growing up and around it like this:

So it was quite a display! I think I also remember some Bird of Paradise!

Of course, since you've got all these growing together, you might as well throw in some Ginger!

I secretly believe that Beefy wants to go to Hawaii! :rose

Break out that Hibiscus!

Me!

I had to get rid of mine (houseplants) when I moved out of NC and have not since had an opportunity to replace them when I simultaneously had somewhere I could grow them. It was a couple Zamia, coontie, and one of the narrower-leaved ones that is the commonest one in the greenhouse trade and its name escapes me now.

I always wanted to live somewhere I could have a collection of cycads and treeferns growing outside. Never happen, but a girl can dream :)

i used to have a tree fern when i was in college but it got too cold one night and expired. it was huge. i got my mom and sister one each for christmas last y ear and they promptly killed them both.

i bet the pony tail palm with the cycads around it looked awesome.
