Rabbit Talk is a good site. Good group of people over there. I was a bit leary when I went over there thinking it would be like BYC, but its much more like TEG for rabbits. TON of good info on there and people are really nice.

Too many narrow minded people who need to get over their bad selves and need to spend more time working on improving their own lives before they trash anybody else on BYC. Too much "if your not doing it my way you're an idiot". And the "Oh you didn't know that? How can you NOT know that? You're an idiot". Or the "Oh you jumped into chickens and had no idea what you were doing? You're an idiot. Never mind the fact I did the exact same thing 2 years ago but it was OK when I did it. You're an idiot.

Honestly if I'm EVER back on BYC it would be too soon.

Good post Jared77! Well said. On that point...I am a "city-iot"...... DH wanted chickens...25..... and I went... :ep The chickens I grew up with.....were deep fried and had recipes. Live ones? Were at the zoo. Of course, DH is a country boy...and I am a city-slicker. Think.."Green Acres" :gig

I've always had a green thumb though...... for most things. Big gardens....are a new experience for me. :hide

I guess I'll toss my two cents in. I found the link to this site from BYC. I haven't noticed too much backbiting there, but it does exist on occasions. I actually haven't noticed any backbiting here at all, but then, I don't read all of the posts and I don't post too often.

I have a few interests, one being canoeing and canoe camping. There are some great forums out there for these two activities. When you visit these forums ( they will remain unnamed) you need to have a very thick hide. Ask a question that might have been previously discussed and a dozen people will rip you up. Then one or two members will give you a responsible answer. Just the way it is.

I've noticed the same thing on a traditional muzzleloaders forum I frequent. Maybe, it's a matter of too many guys on the sites and not enough women there to keep all of our testosterone in check. Ya know, a three foot hickory stick in the hands of a good woman will keep any loud mouth in place. Of course I joke.

Just my two cents worth. This is a great site though. You's have always been there to help me.

I think each one of us "sets the tone" around here.

I had a disturbing experience this morning on another forum. I'd posted something over 6 years ago and it came back to haunt me! I was waaay too much into criticizing my neighbors and did so on the forum. It must have been just in the final days of their marriage and all hell kept breaking loose on the other side of the fence!

My post was about the vine on the fence but not really . . . I was complaining about all the arguing, and drinking, and arguing, and drink . . . .

At first, I thought that the guy who brought this long-ago thread back was the old neighbor whose wife finally had handcuffed and driven off in a police car! . . . ! . . . Then I did a google search of this guy's handle. Seems he sells tennis shoes & porn - or, tries to sell them, on other forums. Registered just to throw back in my face my very critical comments about these neighbors. I won't soon forget them but I'd better curb my tendency to be so critical. No telling what kind of response I'll get somewhere down the road.

Haha, steve, some people deserve the term idiot...sure sounds like your old neighbor was one of them!! It's ok with me to be a little critical of behavior like that, i wouldn't sweat some other idiots nasty response!!

What a strange occurance, Steve. I can't imagine what his motivation would have been otherwise? You could still go in and edit/delete that old post just in case, couldn't you?

I've not had much trouble on BYC, but I hardly go on there anymore since I feel I have reached the pinnacle of chicken wisdom (hehe). There's a lot more variety in that hobby really, depending on how old-school you might be, or if your chickens are pets or beloved family members, or if you just really enjoy butchering your own chickens. To each their own, certainly. ;)

Now other garden forums I've visited are not in anyway as friendly and nice as this one is. Everyone here is just so much more laid back and personable, IMO. I like how most everyone here is so supportive and eager to be helpful, cheer you on, back you up, sharing pics, all that stuff...not only in regards to gardening, but each other's lives as well. I think that's why it's so uncomfortable when there's a stink going on, because normally we have such a friendly community here. I really enjoy "hanging out" with you guys and look forward to it each day! :hugs
