Here's one of the community gardens here in town where I live:

http://www.covenantcommunitygarden.org/PictureGallery.aspx

I haven't join, but mostly because its run by a church I am not part of, though they've said its open to the whole community and the church doesn't really do anything with anyone there based on faith.
V.....I don't think I would be comfortable joining, either. It might help if it wasn't located right next to the church....but at a neutral site. Would imagine all members are from the church.

I found out about from our local nursery. One of the lady's there gardens there since she lives in an apartment... but she's not a member of the church. This church is HUGE but it owns a lot of land, and I'm glad they are sharing with the community.

Plus, in the fall they take your compostable debri so you don't throw it out or put it on the curb.

But I don't think I'll be joining. :/

Good morning! :bee :bee :bee Spring has AT LAST sprung here & there are suddenly masses of bumble bees about (my grandmother used to call them 'fuzzy bears'! :D ). As the fruit trees have suddenly shot into blossom they are very busy.

I have found another blog which I think ought to be listed here; it's about getting information out to people involved with gardening in schools. This idea has certainly been re-invented lately as part of the recent rethink about the meals fed to the children every school-day. :clap :clap

Do your schools have these gardens? I know there is one that Alice Waters supports in California but I haven't seen much about them in other places over there. If you know of any, especially ones with blogs let us know so we can list them here. I think these schemes need all the support we can give them. Children who help to grow vegetables etc are much more likely to eat them & that is so important --- as we can see from this other thread on TEG:

:frow Hattie,

You have, once again, brought a smile to my face. The second picture (of the little girl wearing gloves) looks so much like my sweetheart babygirl....I had to do a "double take" to make sure that it wasn't. And it was still hard to be sure. Even the little girl's hair color and hair "style" is spot on.

Glad you have a smile on your face boggy b. :happy_flower

I found this other blog I thought you would enjoy. This woman must be superhuman, the amount of projects she is involved in, including working with a school on their gardening projects. It's full of interesting photos too & I know you really enjoy those. :ep Let alone the title of the blog....!!! :gig

Good morning this sunny Sunday morning! :coolsun

We had coldish temperatures overnight but no frost; just as well as I idiotically left my young tomato plants outside......old age catching up with me.....!!! :idunno

At the other end of the spectrum I am adding a blog written by youngsters who are at the begiinning of their gardening careers/involvement. :celebrate
