It smells of smoke this afternoon. The local sensors say that the air is only at "moderate" level, fortunately. The fires are some distance away, mostly in the central Idaho Rockies but the air is moving from the southeast so the smoke is coming this way.
Some rain is falling in that area and we are supposed to have a 40% chance overnight and through tomorrow. It's the old "less than one tenth of an inch" story. But, further south and perhaps on those fires, there may be some serious rain. Hopefully, lightning
won't accompany the storms. The news is that the existing fires are lightning caused.
Somewhat of a busy day and, altho I didn't do any garden work, unless mowing the lawn counts, I have been outdoors a good deal. The smoke has been more and more noticeable through the day. Now, I'm enjoying being indoors with the Air Conditioning altho outdoors, it is only 82°f (28°C). That is almost exactly what our high temperature was yesterday. The WS seriously missed its prediction for yesterday being above 90°f. This is what happens when smoke begins to enter the picture. Combined now with rainclouds, we have a cooling trend altho we are paying seriously for it.
