My nephew who always looks for ez way out said ball rusted on and to much work to take off. Should I just get adapter Journey posted.I not very mechanical ball doesn't look rusty to me. What do you think?

Threads may be rusty. Try to spray with WD40 and see if it is easier to remove. (I agree nephew was looking for an easy out, too rusty!)

From pix, it doesn't look rusted at all. Just take a pipe wrench and an adjustable wrench with you. Should screw right off. I would like a better pix of what ball is on. Question when ball is off IF you can reach the hole with trailer hitch. If you can't, you will need a flat piece of steel with holes on both ends.

Try spraying with PB Blaster, It works really well on nuts and bolts that haven't been removed for years. It's a penetrating oil.

PB Blaster is my ultimate trailer renovation product - helped me get out all the rusted in screws all over the trailer, plus I discovered the other day it MELTED OFF the silver roof sealant someone painted all over one of the drip caps, yes!!
