Thistle, that last pic doesn't even look real! Looks like a painting....very pretty! So glad you are taking your soul to the cleaners out there. Ride some for me..it's been far too long since I rode a horse.

It was taken by my friend who actually is a painter. I think she did some effect to make it more "painty" lol, although it's very true to the colors that day. You can see all the tamaracks in their fall gold in the treeline.
The only time I realize how many are in the woods is in the fall.

Next time my husband asks what my plans for the day are, I think I'll tell him I'm taking my soul to the cleaners!

@seedcorn, that is why gaited horses are SO popular! They don't (90% of the time) trot, just a running walk or an amble or the other names of similar trot speed gaits. My Mountain Horse mare is a cadillac ride, VERY smooth transitions between gaits and a BIIIIIGGGGG motor. No meandering at a snail's pace for the gaited ones.
Btw, I love bays, too, especially the black points, which is what the black on their legs is called.

I have a 30 year old Tennessee Walker that I don't ride any more due to her breathing issues. I sure miss riding her! She gets to live out the rest of her life with us, no shipping off to slaughter for her!

He is roly poly fat, sweet as ever and as calm as can be riding him down the road. Nothing rattles him.

OK, I admit I know next to nothing about horse riding, but it looks to me like there are no saddles. I guess I am used to seeing western style saddles, showing a lot more leather. Are they English style saddles? I don't even see stirrups. Perhaps I need to have my eyes checked. Maybe you are riding bareback?
If it were me, I'd need to be duck taped on.
