Here you go. I took my camera out when I let the birds out this morning. the keets are the non-chicken and non-duck things

And anticipating the inevitable question: the tarps were for reducing snow drifts in the run over winter. It also made it a bit warmer in there, which was nice when out there feeding and watering.

thanks! :) they look like some kind of quail but i'm not familiar with them. good eating i hope? they are certainly more wary so looks like more wild than the ducks or chickens.

Finished covering the hoophouse uh, hoops ..

. and the two beds and pathway between.

Hung door and window, dang it was hot in there until I had it opened up! As soon as I finish my reward (a cup of coffee :)), I will locate some bok choy and broccoli raab seed.

Spread composted cow manure on my box I plant lettuce in. Bought some plastic and more seeds, and a new grow light for the greenhouse in the kitchen. Transplanted peppers and tomatoes, started more cabbage, kale, collards, bok choy. I put onions, leeks, some kale and collards outside yesterday. They looked a little droopy this morning, but came back.

geese. They generate more manure than any animal pound for pound. Maybe even animal for animal... every step, squirt......well maybe not that bad...
Yep...that bad. Funny story. Three years ago, when I lived in the city, there was a pond about half a mile from us if you walked a straight line-which you couldn't because it was an old, well established neighborhood. Some geese lived there year round, with many more visiting for spring/summer. One day I came home from work and my sister and a girlfriend were in the street frantically waving me down. There was a gosling in the yard. They said some boys had been teasing it, and they came to the rescue.....but it wouldn't let them get near it. I said I'd take care of the situation, and headed into the house to make some phone calls. The gosling immediately fell in line behind me. Down the walkway, immediately behind me. Up the steps, right at my feet. Opened the door and it followed without hesitation, right into the house. At this point the girlfriend was squealing "he likes you. CAN WE KEEP HIM?" Smilingly, I replied "only if you clean up after it. STEP. SQUIRT.STEP. SQUIRT. Six phonecalls and a whole roll of paper towels later.....she gave Up on the dream of a pet goose. City, county, animal rescue, state wildlife, local national migratory waterfowl rescue (it was a Friday..."We'll be there Monday or Tuesday") and the gf was like "we gotta do SOMETHING! I've never seen an animal that s*@ts with every step. So I reached down (he was sitting dutifully at my feet), picked him up, wrapped him in a towel and placed him in a plastic tote. In the car and down to the pond. Released, and he immediately rushed to Mama, who admonished him soundly for a few seconds before they joined all the others in the water. Happy ending. STEP,SQUIRT,STEP,SQUIRT. Yep, that's geese.
