Soya in all bread

No wonder I am packing on the pound's. Every bread has soya in. I used to really enjoy soya milk as a replacement to dairy and shot up in dress size. Luckily I came across a clever person that said it was probably all the soya milk I was drinking they were right, I started too lose a little weight after cutting it out. Now soya is in almost everything and there's no getting away from it :duco_O. Would someone be kind enough to guide me to a bread making page please. I would like to make sugar free bread and find the best flour to bake with, i heard marriages flour is about the best. If there's no bread page maybe I will start one if no one minds :)

I make it without any salt. The sugar is negligeble and you Need it to feed the yeast.
I use dry yeast in a jar and double the yeast called for. It's easy but you need to set aside 4-5 Hours for it.
Also, my MIL's recipe calls for 5 1/2-6 cups flour, depending upon the humidity, higher humidity, less flour. I let mine rise in the microwave, out of the way of the cats. If it's a cold, cold day, I will start my oven up to give it a little heat, turn it off, then put them in a warmish oven for the 2nd rise.

I'm busy for the next day or so, then I will start a thread. Thanks for the information on bread. I really have to start making my own. Sugar is my other problem being a real addiction of mine :(. Should I add the thread in rambling? I really like oats and seeded bread. Maybe l can work out my own recipe. It's a real joy coming in here thank you all :love

if you don't mind not having exactly bread you can make flapjacks or pancakes or flatbreads or quickbreads, cornbreads, etc. ... :)

we are trying to keep the weight off so breads have not been common here, yet we still have some homemade bread around. cracked wheat and unbleached flour, no sugar added, i'm sure she adds some salt, but not a lot. i eat maybe two slices of bread a week or two. this past week we've had pasta. that's my carbs. sugar, um, yeah, i eat enough of that to sink a ship, but i've cut back now to where it is more like a kayak.

living on my own when dieting is much easier. it is too bad that exercising will power doesn't burn calories nearly as much as the weakness and snacking can put on...

Will look up cracked wheat, not familiar with that at all. Is it simular to freekah? I don't have a problem with salt. I got hold of some fresh yeast which I froze. Worried they will be adding soya to our flour, it bugs me that a lot of the food products are not even labelling all of these ingredients.

cracked wheat just provides more texture/lumps to bread. :)

here in the USoA ingredients are required to be listed and if the soy is processed or broken down into other compounds it should be listed too (often under different names). the problem is that there is still some wiggle room in what falls under "natural flavors" and a few other things, but on the whole it is much better now that it was many years ago where people could add pretty much what they wanted to foods.

You can try finding organic flour, and make your own bread. I have finally gotten my sourdough starter strong enough to make good bread. It is just 3 ingredients: flour, water and salt. You may have to order flour on the net. The pandemic has gotten everybody and their brother making bread, and flour has been sold out just about everywhere.
If you do some checking, you can find many substitutes for those foods that have soya. There are recipes on line for mixes like taco seasoning, salad dressings, so you know exactly what is in them. The health food store may become your best friend.
I don't know if you live in the US, but since there are so many people allergic to soy products here, I think soya has to be listed if it is in the ingredients. It may have an odd name, like soy protein distillates, or soy flour, or something else.
Good luck. It is a pain to find "no soy" products, but it is possible.

Thanks for getting this info to me. I'm in the uk, some bread is labelled but certainly not all. The fresh baked doesn't tell you at all. This is wrong, there was a big case on the seeds being added at some sandwich providers yet soya as far I I can can see there's very little if any. Once it is proven to have actually caused death's nothing will change.
