The "Amazon customer service" calls are really ramping up. Today's calls are Revision 3.0; the only thing that changes are the numbers being spoofed, and the amount of the "purchase" being quoted. Three calls so far today, which makes about 20+ total since this scam started. Speaking to several people, this is apparently very widespread... there must be a huge call center operating this one. Law enforcement says there is nothing they can do because all the phone numbers are spoofed. Cell phone providers are beginning to offer spam protection. I wonder when land-line services will take action on spoofing, this situation is getting way out of control. The calls are so frequent its like being stalked, DW & I don't even get up to answer the phone any more unless we are expecting a call.

She did then deleted her email account.

that's a pretty extreme response.

i get offers a few dozen times a month from the vice-presidents of the Hang-Seng bank. they must have a big office of all vice-presidents... this has been going on for years. i just delete the notes without any response at all. for sure they're fake as is anyone else i don't know who's offering me $ just to be used as a way to hide a transfer of funds. yeah, right, like that is legitimate...

i'm sure not going to be deleting any e-mail accounts.

if you look at the entire e-mail (including the headers) you can often see where the mail came from and maybe even who sent it and the fact that they have nothing to do with whatever company they're trying to make you think they have some association with.

My email has a pretty effective spam filter, very few questionable emails get past it. I check it once in awhile though, in case a legitimate email accidentally finds its way there (some seed requests do). It's actually entertaining in a disturbing sort of way, watching the variety & evolving creativeness of the scammers. In the last week, there have been fake Amazon emails, fake LinkedIn (I get A LOT of those), fake bank officers, a fake American trapped abroad, and a couple Nigerian princes. Who knew I was that influential.

Both DW and I have been getting the usps scam texts lately. These dopes are so lame they send texts saying order number what ever is having issues and get ahold of them at some non phone number they give to work it out. I only have to check my online orders to figure out the numbers they give are totally fake. Rookie crooks.

Call me paranoid and you may be correct if you say that is so. But I will be changing my email soon. I really think it's a safe bet especially when you have to deal with untrustworthy people on other matters besides scammers.

:\ Thinking about these people are scammers but in a different way. I think @baymule Will get what I mean :)

DW has been getting quite a few of those texts. Obviously fake - given that even if we were expecting a package (and as it happened we were) the USPS would have no way of knowing our cell numbers. If there really were a postal issue of any kind (such as a heavily damaged package) all the USPS would do is drop a note in the mailbox asking you to come to the office.

It saddens me to think that so many of these scams are immediately obvious to even casual scrutiny, yet people must fall for them or the scammers wouldn't make the effort.

Sharing this for anyone else who may have experienced a similar situation...

Back in 93, I had to stay at a temporary address due to circumstances beyond my control. Around 2006/7 I received a call informing me that my I.d had been used. As I was living in a different area so I didn't worry too much about it WRONG DECISION.

Moving on 10 years after this call I had massively strange events happening in my life that I believed could have either orchastrated by deviant's around my home a rental company or even an internet/phone provider???

I later assumed it was the latter because this company had been hacked a year previously before I was ever aware I had a problem

I'm writing this today because I'm really concerned that again my I.d may be missing. It was posted out around 40 miles away from my home on the 14th of this month and still isn't with me today.

I really feel i was persecuted in the past but cannot prove this.
Even a few years ago i felt someone official was enquiring about me while i travelled too visit my brother in hospital. :th

If I'm correct in this assumption then I am throughly disgusted in our system. instead of protecting a victim of crime they stalk them because all they are doing is passing on misinformation between this system instead of speaking too the person's concerned therefore failing too establish the genuine facts.

This missing I.d may turn up this week but if not, who can I approach if my privacy has yet again compromised. I mean who and what can we trust anymore.
