Yes! Do what you do, but shut the heck up and stop shaming those who don’t agree with you. Since when in this country is it wrong to have an open debate without hating each other? Protesting at a hospital? Those poor healthcare workers are already exhausted, go protest somewhere else.

But what do I know, I don’t have a brain cell.
You are a shining light on TEG @baymule 🌟🌟🌟! I'm so glad you don't hide it under a bushel ❤

"...it's hard to hear people who still don't believe the pandemic is killing that many people, or believe vaccines don't really work or are dangerous. ...but I have yet to admit a single person because of a vaccine-related incident."

The doctor rightly saying that he didn't want to be political but it has been a community, state, national and international event that requires political action on all of those levels. Politicians who prospered on politics of fear (mostly of other people) and then downplaying the threat of the coronavirus are beyond reprehensible as we watch hundreds of thousands of Americans suffer and die.

Since so many older people are vaccinated, children under 12 are not, and schools are opening - the current Delta wave is putting young people in the hospital and causing more long-term health problems and deaths. So, it's a holiday ...

Well for crying out loud!

I saw on local news this morning that the Idaho state government had "activated crisis standards of care" and I'm not sure what that means. Here comes some help:

Screenshot_2021-09-07-15-18-58_kindlephoto-64921538.png

"We have exhausted our resources ... after a surge in COVID-19 cases left too few hospital beds and medical personnel to care for all the sick.
In the hard-hit region, which has Idaho's lowest rates of vaccination against COVID-19, someone struggling to breathe may no longer get a ventilator. Someone badly hurt in a car wreck or accident may no longer get a bed in the hospital ... More than 95% of COVID-19 patients in Idaho hospitals are unvaccinated ..." link

Vaccination did pick up in Idaho during August. It was from a very low level of those eligible.

This is the "acceleration" of cases. Where things were earlier and how quickly they turned around:

This is the State with the fastest development of new cases, West Virginia:

Here is a graph of Idaho's hospital problem:

Screenshot_2021-09-14-06-02-36_kindlephoto-49670937.png

Grey - unoccupied ICU beds
Orange - COVID occupied ICU beds
Green - non-COVID occupied ICU beds
John Hopkins University

Notice how the non-COVID patients were cleared-out as ICU's became overwhelmed ... NY Times has a story on Spokane Washington hospitals under a heading something like: "Their Crisis, Our Problem."

Side note: South Dakota is now in the top 10 states for COVID deaths, per capita

interesting that Idaho has 1,85 million people vs. Michigan at about 10 million but in comparison the ICU beds in Idaho are 300 vs. 2500 for MI.

But isn't this just the one hospital in Idaho, Kootenai Health and not the whole state of Idaho? Editing to add I just realized you said ICU beds and not total beds. I hear people complaining it is not only covid causing problems in the hospital but it is the rise in population and it is hard to get appointments to regular doctors and it is hard to even get a place to live, so Idaho has changed a lot in the last year. Our roads are being rebuilt to handle traffic, houses and apartments being built.
