We had FIVE rhubarb plants and dug up 3 to give away this Spring. The TWO that remain should provide plenty for fresh use and even some for the freezer.

the last time i dug up rhubarb i had to move the clumps with the wheelbarrow. i gave some away too from that effort and then the remaining ones were relocated to their current position along the back edge.

amazing to start with four relatively tiny parts of plants that a friend from work gave me to where they are now with the clumps getting up to several feet across before i whack them back with the shovel so they can expand again.

@Dahlia, not everyone would try this but it is very tasty :).

"Saute some onions. Add rhubarb, a can of Dr. Pepper, a cup of apple cider vinegar, about a cup of brown sugar, maybe some molasses, and a tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce. Smoked paprika, garlic salt, several grinds of black pepper ... dash of cinnamon, a sprinkle of allspice and cloves.

Cook on top the stove until the rhubarb is soft and bubbling sauce is making the constant stirring a little dangerous ;). Run through blender but be careful if it's very hot! Barbecue Sauce!"
