    Another dumb tomato question

Days to harvest/maturity is a seed to seed number. It is an average. So on average if you purchase 6 week old plants, the tomato plant with an 85 days to harvest will take another 6 weeks or so to fruit. Now you have to allow an extra 2 weeks for transplant shock. So on average with the...

    Aphids in my Greenhouse?? HELP!

I recommend you go to your local garden center and look for some nicotine bombs. They work great in a greenhouse for controlling aphids.

    pickle problem

Let me tell you what not to do. Do not forget you are processing your pickle jars and let them boil for 20 minutes... this does not produce crips pickles.

    Dwarf lime tree with something?

Look at the undersides of the leaves. (The leaves above the sooty mold.) What do you see?

    Garden Spacing

I use a 2 ft middle. But then I don't mind having to crawl around in the jungle sometimes. Only trouble I had was with the squash going over the middle... I'll give those things more room this year.

    Peas

We are expecting snow tomorrow, so I'll plant my snow peas in a few days when it warms up again. I have to fence off my whole cool season row... bunnies! Bunnies are ruining my garden! If I ever catch peter you'd better believe I'll hang his coat and shoes right in the big fat middle of the row!

Ok still looking for the recipe.. I used to get Organic Gardening magazine back in the day. It had tons of tips like the "bug tea". But in the mean time here are some other organic control recipes: http://www.gardenersnet.com/spray.htm...

    Permanent Marker . . Ha!

We have chick "grave markers" (don't ask) that are made from round river rock and paint pen. Seems to be holding up great so far. Cheap and easy. I think they would make great plant markers too.

My Peas - I finally remembered to plant them! Pics of growth

I have some snow peas to plant. It's supposed to snow here Saturday, so I suppose I'll wait until after that. I'm also concerned about the evil bunnies that ate all my cauliflower and broccoli.. so I'll need to fence off that part of the garden. I'm already mad enough they got the cauliflower...

    Tobacco, natural pesticide?

I like growing the ornamental tobaccos. They are pretty. I used to use various species of nicotiana in my viral work. Usually easy to grow, and easy to spot infected plants. Just weed out and throw away in the trash anything suspicious. You can use the leaves in bug tea spray. Though I...

    Tobacco, natural pesticide?

If you grow your own tobacco it would be feasible to use it as a natural pesticide. Just don't use any infected plants. Infected plants will have an obvious mosaic. I don't recommend anyone use commercially produced tobacco for pesticide treatment on any of the solanacea plants...
