It wouldn't seem like a big issue. There are crops planted within 10 ft or so of many busy rural roads. Of course those crops are fertilized too and used for regular consumption by humans. People grow gardens in LA and you can't even see mountains a mile away there because of air pollution.

I have read on here about different cages for tomatoes. I have heard people say they make them 3'. Is this 3' diameter or circumference. The cages at the store are about 12" diameter. Please clarify.

We seem to have a shortage of bees in our area. We are on the high plains in Colorado. The only thing that grows naturally is prairie grass and pine trees. I'm afraid we might have to get a hive and grow bees.

Be happy you have some precipitation. This is a drought year for us. Our garden will be full of grasshoppers, as in serious infestation. You can use chickens but they warn that the chickens can get impacted from eating too many. The other choice is pesticide. We hope for snow all the time.
