DH and I have worked really hard to make our yard look nice. When we bought it four years ago, you literally could not see the house because the yard was covered in overgrown, ugly trees and huge box hedges. Everything was enormous and overgrown... no flowers, no appeal at all.
The first thing...
Long time no post... I'm usually on BYC!
Anyway, DH and I live on a half acre with our dogs, horses and chickens. We had a gorgeous back lawn and just as I was planting a veggie garden and starting to dig into other areas, the gophers came. We battled with them and won but still managed to save...
:D
Look who was shot with a pellet gun! We've caught three in traps and shot the one this past week.
Then of course, we have this vermin....
He made his way into the corn and decided to crow between bites!
I just spent a good three, three and a half hours examining my Sunset Western Garden book, cutting pictures out of magazines and taping them inside a garden journal. And of course, I wrote notes next to each picture (what variety it is, where I should plant it, etc).
I see all these great ideas...
Sorry dial-uppers...
I got so much done outside this weekend!! :weight
My parents came out and my mom and I planted the veggie garden.
We did some seeds and some baby plants.
Peppers (Green and purple bells, Gypsy sweet, Big Bertha, Hot Banana, and New Mexico Jim)
Tomatoes (Heatwave)...
Looks like your BYC newsletter with the link to this site is working! I'm gone for a couple days and now I have some reading to do here!!!
And BYC is just going crazy... We need to suspend Wildsky and the rest of the yackers for a month so the rest of us can catch up on the treads! :gig
Anyone?
What are you going to grow this year? When are you starting? It's going to be 80 degrees all this week, so I have DH out there with the tractor and the till! :throw
I have such great luck with them! I'd love to see pics if anyone else out there grows them. I have a few from Hawaii, but to tell you the truth, the best plants I have came from Home Depot!
:weee
I'm going to *attempt* a veggie garden again this year. The difference between last year and this?
NO MORE FREE RANGING HENS eating all my tomatoes! :barnie
