Official TEG Poll : What type of Gardener are you?

I put other because like Nyboy, I do it for the pure pleasure of being outside and watching my plants grow. I am mostly about flowers but do some veggies just to keep me 'honest' lol. Best wishes to everyone for a wonderful 2016

You and me Steve! Broke out the winter coats today! I read the 10 day and we're supposed to be 92 next week, go figure.

    Happy Dad's Day

I cherish my husband because when we met, I had three children just on the edge of adolescence (not the easiest age to take over children). (He was a widower, so I was priviledged to get two more children.) He opened his heart to my kids, treating them just like his own and I am sure his...

    looking forward to a weed?

I know this discussion is about redroot pigweed, but for me, the most obnoxious weed is 'quack grass'. I spent most of Saturday and half of today digging an entire garden up that had been infested with quack grass. I am going to let it stay unplanted for a while so if there are any 'quacking'...

    Mint looks scabby! What's up?

Sunburn? I really don't know, but I have seen similar spots on my plants when they've had too much sun. Kathie

    Couple of blooms!

Over 100! Yikes!! We're in the 70's and 80's which is nice working weather. I don't do much in over 100 degree weather. It didn't used to bother me, but now... I have been up to my neck setting out all the starts from the greenhouse. I lost a few zinnias so have been working on the...

Greenhouse Built from old 'Garage Tent'

Thank you for your nice compliment. It was very easy to build and we saved a lot of money by using 'Craigslist' items. I have been using it since 2011 and it is wonderful! :weee Kathie

    asparagus

I am afraid that I may have lost my asparagus. They were in a raised bed and we had a long colder than normal period this winter. I am still looking for them though. Planted some new ones last week, so if my others are gone, I'll just have to look forward to these in a couple years!

What did YOU do in your garden today :P

Pretty cold on Saturday, but I brought my mother-in-law out to the greenhouse. It was nice and warm in there!

    Late freeze tonight...what to expect.

I am watching for that great sunny weather to return. The work outside is piling up because I'm a wimp and don't work outside the greenhouse when it's cold. Have you frozen where you are lately? We've been close, but have escaped. I don't have much outside yet besides green onions and...

    Late freeze tonight...what to expect.

@journey11 and @lesa, old man winter just doesn't want to let go of you. I feel guilty for complaining all day about the 48 degree weather and wind that we're having. Maybe I'm not so bad off! Hope the good weather finds you soon. Kathie

What did YOU do in your garden today :P

I can relate to your post @bobm. DH and I are big time do-it-ourselfers too. We've run up against some really zany construction practices. We ran a construction company for 20 years so am very familiar with some of the shenanigans that goes on. I love being able to do our repairs with DH. I...

What did YOU do in your garden today :P

@digits, you must be higher in elevation than I am. Our temperatures thankfully aren't supposed to drop below 34. I would be most worried about those 30 mph winds, they can do a lot of damage. (don't go to the attic! lol) @marshallsmyth You are sure working hard. I bet it's looking...

What did YOU do in your garden today :P

Rain on and off today. Typical Spring weather for us. Gave me an excuse to stay in the greenhouse and finally get the last of the seedlings potted up. The work outside is piling up, but at least the 'little ones' are all tucked in! I need to get back to slug hunting with my granddaughter...
