I feel like Verruca Salt. I want it now! I want to go out and plant things now so I can start watching them grow. We have had some good days in the high sixties...tomorrow we are suppose to see 70's. But nights are still chilly! And who knows what will come next week. We had snow 1000 ft...

I have to tell someone who will be as excited as me. I ordered berry plants from gurney's. And I have created the area for them to grow in. I will be finishing up my fence around it this week :fl I am creating a whole other area of the yard. Fence to keep dogs out of it. And separate from...

    Chickens and new sprouts

I am trying to get a few things for fall started now. I am using seed and love to watch them all pop up. My chickens are in the back of the garden and I let them free range almost everyday. Is there something I can do to protect the new sprouts without standing guard and shooing chickens...

    Getting grass back

When we bought our house we had St. Augustine front and back. The front is fine because as we worked on the house we could see it and we were constantly reminded to water. The backyard however, far away, and was often forgotten. Then small baby, backyard was left to the wayside (sorry my poor...

    the disgusting tomato....catepillar?

I found one on each plant this morning. I remember having them as a kid, but I don't remember what we did. The chickens can't see them apparently to eat them as I held them up there and they just looked at it like "Nice plant lady, can you let me down?" I cut off the part of the branch they...

    The Tree

We have two of these in our yard, one out front one out back....we hate them both! They have "berries" that the parrots love and that fall all over. They hurt to step on, they are sticky and cling to anything that walks across them. I hate the tree....okay, I truly dislike the tree. It is...

    Hornets nest

I probably would mind it if it wasn't outside my back porch. It is brand new, only about 1 sq inch. I can see the queen and she has three workers helping make it bigger and bigger. Does anyone know how to get rid of it?

    Granny Smith Apple trees

Is it true that they have to be grafted? In a hopefully, garden greenhorn decision I planted some seeds I got from an apple. I have little baby trees starting and seemingly doing well. But I was told that they have to be grafted.

    watermelon issues

I haven't been able to get any of my watermelon vines to grow this year. They all start and then just fail. I was once told by someone who grew up in Kentucky to put a table spoon of mayonnaise in the ground next to the stalk. I haven't done this with any of these only because they seemed too...
