Yes indeed, a great shoveler shot!

Yellow-headed blackbirds? I think of them as Columbia Basin birds not Columbia Falls birds! I need to pay more attention to western Montana!

Red-tailed hawk - watched this guy scoop up a mouse (or some lil unlucky critter) and devour it on this perch, very cool!

Well, it doesn't quite look like a Mountain Ash, Heather.

What do you think? Those little trees make quite a contribution to our birdlife in late winter/early spring.

Those are great bird photos! You have such a nice variety where you live.

You're right Steve, not mountain ash - I guess I could give you more info instead of just making it a random guess It's shrub-like, bushy messy habitat. About 10' - 12' tall at most. No leaves on it yet, so kind of tough to ID. After looking at some pictures on the internet I'm sort of leaning toward Red Chokeberry, but I think I need to go back and check out the plant when the leaves come in.
