Ok, explain to me, why would anyone want to settle in an area where 2' of snow is a dusting? Northern Indiana is cold enough!

Just like the first 3 settlements of Archbold, Ohio all died of malaria. What would make someone think in year 4, hey that would be a great place to settle down and raise a family?

Haha, tell me about it!! We already had the "how did you get where you are" discussion, and i STILL dont understand how I got here or why i'm still here! It warmed up today, saw 16 degrees on my way home from work! Snow forecasted every day for the next 10.

And that is just freaking hilarious about the malaria settlement.

Sad but true. Although after they finished digging canals to drain the excess water, fertile ground. But still, 3 successive pops all killed by malaria???? I thought malaria was a southern disease? Another gift from those southerners........

I don't do well if our "dusting" of snow lasts for more than 2-3 days. I would be ready to go bear hunting with a stick if I had to live with winter as long as you do!

Wow, a whole 2 months. Couldn't handle that, no okra, melons, decent tomatoes, peppers, sweet corn, just kill me!

But I'm extremely glad people like to live there.

Like is an awfully strong word, Bay' . . .

Ideally, I would have 4 homes - one for each season . I suppose I could be happy just migrating from the northern to the southern hemisphere. Still, I'd be looking for the mirror-image of what's around here.

No. I think we have the right soil or something for peppers - it would be nice if they were more than 10" tall. You gotta get used to small tomatoes, plant & fruit size. I think I've done well to come up with a couple melons for a couple of weeks every summer . . .

As best as I can figure it, the early white settlers didn't have a sweet corn that could mature early enuf for here. I know that field corn was eaten early but I don't know if that was an option. I wonder what they thought they were doing here! Wheat berries . . . chew 'em if you got 'em.

Well, as a matter of fact there are more than two months of glorious weather, but some things should just continue to be a mystery to all y'all.
And I'm equally glad that there are people that love Indiana....and Texas...
and 47 other states!
