looking that one up. not sure which one you're talking about as there seem to be a lot of different varieties all called the same thing.

horny goat weed as a herbal medicine for ED... yeehaw! um, no, i won't be growing that one.

it doesn't seem to be around this area.

I think of "goatsbeard" when Bay' mentions that weed. That's another name for salsify but, from the way salsify grows around here, it probably doesn't like locations where it has tons of rain.

Well, maybe it might –– what do I know? I have trouble imagining how or why people forage for salsify roots –– scrawny little things. I have a neighbor who has tons of goatbeard growing in his yard. He is a renter, I'm sure. The owners moved about 150 miles away and, I doubt, ever visit. The guy was an up-&-coming attorney so what's this little old house in this neighborhood mean to him? Still, he and his wife spent good money bringing in grass sod because the house sat empty and neglected through a time when watering was needed. That new grass is dead ... the new guys ran a sprinkler but didn't seem to know what the heck was required to keep bluegrass alive. A real mess after a one season so their answer was to just stop bothering to water, hence it now grows goatsbeard, cheatgrass and knotweed. At least, the guy has been out mowing it a few times.

Steve, running sprinklers this AM

Coffee is ready, on my second cup. High of 95 today and 96% humidity. I’ve got to sort out some sheep this morning, maybe set a round bale of hay and mow goatweed in the middle field. I’ll stop and take plenty of breaks for ice water and cooling off.
She's done it again :hide I'm going back to bed 🛌 😴💤

Finished second cup of coffee. The goat weed I have is also known as wooly croton. Livestock doesn’t eat it. It takes over a field. I mow and battle the darn stuff. I didn’t make it to mowing it yesterday. Go check my post on my journal. LOL I got ewe lambs sorted out, will sort out some ewes to put with Rocky the ram for breeding. Then I’ll let Little Ringo out on field with other ewes. I’ll have to carry a hoe handle with me when I go in the pen or field as he wants to charge, hit me and do damage. He will be sold after this breeding season.

So I’ll be sorting out ewes for Rocky this morning. Another scorching hot day with high of 95F and 94% humidity.
