looking that one up. not sure which one you're talking about as there seem to be a lot of different varieties all called the same thing.

horny goat weed as a herbal medicine for ED... yeehaw! um, no, i won't be growing that one.

it doesn't seem to be around this area.

mow goatweed
a lot of different varieties
I think of "goatsbeard" when Bay' mentions that weed. That's another name for salsify but, from the way salsify grows around here, it probably doesn't like locations where it has tons of rain.

Well, maybe it might –– what do I know? I have trouble imagining how or why people forage for salsify roots –– scrawny little things. I have a neighbor who has tons of goatbeard growing in his yard. He is a renter, I'm sure. The owners moved about 150 miles away and, I doubt, ever visit. The guy was an up-&-coming attorney so what's this little old house in this neighborhood mean to him? Still, he and his wife spent good money bringing in grass sod because the house sat empty and neglected through a time when watering was needed. That new grass is dead ... the new guys ran a sprinkler but didn't seem to know what the heck was required to keep bluegrass alive. A real mess after a one season so their answer was to just stop bothering to water, hence it now grows goatsbeard, cheatgrass and knotweed. At least, the guy has been out mowing it a few times.

Steve, running sprinklers this AM

Coffee is ready, on my second cup. High of 95 today and 96% humidity. I’ve got to sort out some sheep this morning, maybe set a round bale of hay and mow goatweed in the middle field. I’ll stop and take plenty of breaks for ice water and cooling off.
She's done it again :hide I'm going back to bed 🛌 😴💤

Finished second cup of coffee. The goat weed I have is also known as wooly croton. Livestock doesn’t eat it. It takes over a field. I mow and battle the darn stuff. I didn’t make it to mowing it yesterday. Go check my post on my journal. LOL I got ewe lambs sorted out, will sort out some ewes to put with Rocky the ram for breeding. Then I’ll let Little Ringo out on field with other ewes. I’ll have to carry a hoe handle with me when I go in the pen or field as he wants to charge, hit me and do damage. He will be sold after this breeding season.

So I’ll be sorting out ewes for Rocky this morning. Another scorching hot day with high of 95F and 94% humidity.

I didn’t make it to mowing goat weed. I got sheep sorted and was hot and tired. Exterminator coming this morning to spray, dishwasher is full and I turned it on last night, but it died. I hate washing dishes. I’ll have to unload it, wash all the dishes. A new one will have to wait, just bought new tires for the car, put them on Discount Tire credit card, 6 months same as cash. Phooey. Plus I need a new washing machine too. I guess it’s time for appliances to die. At least I have 2 refrigerators, what are the chances of both of them dying at the same time? I’d better shut up……. Going for second cup of coffee.

There is a pet rescue that is helping capture and hopefully reuniting pets with their owners. This dog belongs to a lady identified only as Miss Jo, who lost 8 of her dogs. The Cajun Navy 2016 found their bodies and gave them a respectful burial at home. Her house was flooded and these good people are cleaning out all the flood mud and muck. They found one of her dogs earlier in the week and found this one that somehow survived being carried away in the flood and found her way back home. They got her in a crate and took her for treatment.

Getting one of her dogs back has got to mean an awful lot to that lady. ❤️
I had 2 cups of coffee today. I went out and picked pole beans in between cups. I have been having green beans for supper for a few days. I brought in the first yellow squash and I see a couple more getting close. I do not have any cucumbers yet, but I saw a flower. I am hoping to get corn. I am not sure. The tassels are just now appearing on some of them. I planted some sugar snap peas the other day. I left one of the Chinese cabbage to see what would happen and it did bolt, so cutting them when I did was right. I can start another row now and still have time to harvest some.

I have 72 hollyhock seeds started outside and 25 are up. I have 4 different kinds. I have seeds left over, so next month I am planting these on the fence. I still have a lot of weeds and I planted crazy and I am going to have to move some of the raised beds this fall, but a couple of boys about 13 years old went by on their bikes and one said I like your garden. LOL I am trying to see the flowers and not the weeds.
If you see those boys again, you should ask them if they want to earn a little cash weeding!

My washing machine draw came off. My friend glued it back on and it broken again.
The machine itself is still functioning. I guess a new drawer will do for now

🤫 Not another word. It's bad luck
……. Going for second cup of coffee.
☕ Enjoy 😉

Having lunch sitting in front of the PC –– teevee tray to one side.

Lunch includes purple amaranth "greens." The green amaranth greens will be along shortly; the purple are volunteers and while there aren't many, they have provided for several lunches, sometimes with baby beets accompanying.

My fork is probably worse than a chip with a dip :D.
