Yes, they certainly do add a lot of fragrance to a room. Have you ever snipped off the pollen holders (stamens) to keep your counter/table cloth clean?

I know I should Florist do. Never seemed that messy to me. It is on a reproduction desk so I just wipe up.

When the lily first opens, the stamens are firm; at that time they pull off their stem easily.

Yes. The stamens are just there for pollination.

Spring and fall wild flowers are my favorite cut flowers but from the garden I love zinnias, Black-eyed Susans, and such. They seem to have a long vase life and retain their color clear to the end.

Can't stand lilies of any kind...the smell is too cloying and soon makes me nauseous.

No matter how clean I keep things there is always a slight smell of wet dog. Past 2 days client walk in and say wow it smells good in here

I received a beautiful bouquet of flowers that were probably around $150. It had some lilies. The smell was bothering my husband so he put them out on the deck. Such a waste.

Not a waste if you could still see them. In lots of magazine photos of outdoor living space fresh flowers are used.
