In the case that I have piqued anybody's interest in growing a wildflower patch, let me give you my thoughts and what I have learned.
1) You can make a small or medium or large wildflower patch anywhere in your yard, but they do better with full sun. Mine patch is in full sun and faces a slight downhill slope to the south.
2) YOU HAVE TO WEED IT 1X/YEAR. If you don't you will be fighting the weeds there that you fight everywhere else.
3) These flowers are Really tough! I accidentally pulled out about 20 of them prepping the patch this year, but I had 2 seeds volunteer in cement cracks, and they all have tough stems. THEY.ARE.SURVIVORS.
4) They are really great for places where nothing else wants to do well. You are not supposed to add any fertilizer OR compost. They do much better even in clay.

Finally cut down burdock and other weeds and pulled the rest from around and in between my tomato fencing. I got that done before the mid day downpour and I had put all of my tools away.
Great rain and I even saw a few of the wildflowers up--some seed packages said that they would sprout quickly, and I kept the newly regained bed watered.
The belt came off of my God Mower, and I have an appt. for them to pick it up to repair aGAIN next week.
In the mean time I am making piles that need to go out to the north pasture burn pile, so I need it through the weekend, so I can haul them out there with my tow wagon.
I took the advice of our good friends who we had a lovely meal--we provided the ribeyes and they made the rest--last Saturday. They used to be the best neighbors that we ever had, and we have kept in touch. They live about 30 minutes north now and the found probably the best house in their small town, lost of room for the 4 of them, nice yard, 2 car garage with a south facing carport, etc.
ANYWAY, L. said I should check out somebody about 20 minutes away who has been selling vegetable starts.
I bought 30 plants at $1/each, tomatoes were leggy, but I have them in containers to protect them especially since the T storms brought a lot of wind.
I found enough peppers, too. Now, I can finish cleaning up my beds and should be able to transplant all of them in the next week.
My left knee surgery is 3 weeks from tomorrow.
The gentlemen with the plant sale is a widower and has his whole yard in vegetables. I will be gathering up ALL of my 4 inch plastic pots that had box store vegetables in them when purchased, and delivering them to him as soon as I can do so. I dunno why I kept them. I don't really transplant with them and they are taking up space.
He said he will be Happy to have them!

After struggling with my Notary renewal--first DH got caught up in taking the new Illinois test (for his renewal) that he wasn't required to take, and I studied it and passed it For him, then I didn't want to REtake the test for My renewal, and I tt to the right person who directed me to an exemption form, since I notarize in DH's law office--I am ready to got back to yesterday gardening adventures.
DH was home for "Juneteenth", the stupid new holiday, so I used my reciprocating saw to cut down all of the not gone to seed yet but 3-4 ft tall burdock growing on the east fence of the south pasture. I had some piles of burdock and weeds preventing me from transplanting tomatoes in piles, and I had started on the south bed next to the garage, where the peppers need to be transplanted.
While waiting for me to finish DH took the tractor and mowed the south pasture. Then we both drove through the east gate, I padlocked the east gate, we continued through the south gate of the around-the-barn-turnout. Ponies showed up immediately and ran into the south pasture. We proceeded through the gate to the north pasture--full of a big mud puddle that I raced through, then had to WALK through to close the gate, DH dumped the first/12 bucket loads, then I drove to the east gate of the north pasture that opens to the street and unlocked it.
DH made trips back and forth. I loaded the bucket each time.
I have been asked to take my blood pressure every day by my Medicare Supplement company and today was:
128/76, better than last week, and I think bc I had a real workout yesterday.
Despite the heat I have more to do after lunch.

Please put a hold on anymore work. Just get yourself together and deal with more when you feel more upto it. The heat here wipes me and Nancy out so I dread to think how bad it is for you there. Especially after all you have been through with your operation and with another one to come, along with other issues.

You'll need all the strength and to be in good health for this next operation.

I did a one-and-done job today, completely freeing up my 3 roses from bindweed, plaintain, sawgrass and other weeds. Once I mow I will cover the cardboard that I put in between them (now held down with bricks,) with grass clippings.
No more energy.
I need to get up Really Early tomorrow morning bc we have a Heat Advisory from noon Saturday until 7PM Tuesday.
Highs in the 90's, lows in the mid 70's.
DD's helped us put in the window AC in our bedroom. I had to use another outlet for it since we only have 3 of them in this old house bedroom, so there is a bit of a cord issue when I make the bed.
The large permanent window AC in the LR has been running nonstop for one week. This unit will help it.
Funny, no windows open upstairs, but some of the cold air has drifted there and it's kind of coolish.
I think we'll take some time next weekend to put in the north bedroom AC unit in the window.

I appreciate your heartfelt advice. I have 3 more weeks and my right leg is getting really strong.
I have my walker, aka "Peanut", and my blood tests have all come in so well that my Dr. won't give me a prescription for Ozempic.
Still, I took off the 10 pounds that I gained while convalescing.
AC's are running and I am drinking plenty of water.
Tomorrow there are plenty of things to chop down so that DH can drive them out to the burn pile.
I should have 3 rows of tomatoes in my Sunday night.
They will need soaker hoses...
