I'd like to add that by removing the biggest part of a bindweed plant and throwing it in the trash before it sets seed, makes it harder for it to multiply out of control next year.
Today I was on my God Mower, along the fenceline that my neighbors cut down for me, going forward one bindweed to the next, and getting ALL of it (except for the roots).
When I apply 2D4 on Tuesday I will kill the roots, too.
If you simply mow it the pieces will discharge and they WILL take root where they land.
I have had success both smothering a patch and digging it out with a wheelbarrow, hand manipulating the runners, accumulating them in a bucket and throwing those away, and, a few years ago I was able to completely eradicate one of my beds on the west side of the garage of all of the bindweed there.
Yes, it has been creeping back, but weeds don't have feet and cannot run away like vermin.

I had to show you what my neighbors did for me. I thought that they were done, but when I was about to drive off and drop them the double batch of brownies, they were finished the east fencing. Take a look!!:

Notice in the 3rd picture how the stumps are the same diameter as the 8inch wide fencepost!
I was hoping to get the wood, but I really don't care that they wanted it for burning later. They left me a pile to take back to my firepit for this Fall, AND there is a dead cherry tree 12 ft south of the firepit that needs to come down, so I'm good.
They even chopped down and removed an 8ft tall, 6 ft wide wild rose bush--NOBODY wants those!

I Think that he wanted DH and I to ignore the junkyard that his son has started 2 doors north of us. HE told me that they had a "recycling business." What do I care--nothing on my property OR near my animals...
FIRST TIME a neighbor has EVER helped me for free in 25 years here.
He lives kiddy corner to the NE edge of my property (north pasture) and owns 5 other properties in town.
I can be blind after the tree trimming and removal.
My BEST neighbors lived just north of us, then moved some 10 years ago.
They had been pushing to have us over for dinner to see their new home, some 30 minutes north of here, so we brought ribeye steaks, and they made the rest of the meal.
We had a Lovely visit a few weeks ago.
Nobody else in this town has ever been as friendly.
So, just leave me and mine alone, and I will be happy with my LOTS of friends, but none live here.

Let me begin with something good--I harvested all of my garlic today. More on that later...
Today I get to dig my dog's grave. I cleared out the very weedy 3' x 6' bed that hasn't grown anything good in 4 years, even though I dug out one ft down 5 years ago in the Fall and deposited straight manure into it. Glad to see the 1st year and two 2nd year burdocks go. Plan is to dig and fill up the 100 lb Rubbermaid water tank where I am having trouble correctly screwing in the plug. DH has offered to pull up the tractor if I can't get it done, which is possible. The tractor Could gently nudge the water tank out of the way and dispatch enough dirt quickly, plus DH gets to contribute. Since Eva cleaned her nose on an old family cat pattern quilt, DH said yesterday that one more wash and it's toast, so we should wrap Eva in the cat quilt and bury her with it, instead of eventually throwing it in the trash.
DH had to be humiliated yesterday in a hearing that called into question deficiency of counsel, efforts sought by a mope who was represented by him, convicted by (determined yesterday) overWhelming evidence of guilt.
The result was mention of 3 errors, but no inefficient counsel, so DH got a slap on the wrist.
Good outcome, STILL humiliating and unnecessary.
Our fellow law office attorney who has been also mistreated, has seen HER attackers up and die, last one was the woman on the board, who, after announcing at her very last meeting that some man had entered her house, baked herself to death one year ago in a steamy heat wave. She humiliated our friend (who resigned as our city atty that night) by saying that my friend didn't know what she was doing (as city atty), and recommended another atty for the job.
That Other atty, who got hired, is quite the flim flam man. He recommended an ordinance for every stupid thing the board would do, which, of course meant that he would get paid for drafting every single one of them.
My friend cost the city $3K/year, this one starts at $6K/yr.
There is enough greed and graft to go around.
My dog has had no part in any of this. Our animals, despite Any of their bad behavior, are innocents.
We 4 agreed last night at dinner that this has been a **** week.
Dinner tonight is pizza and a Lot of alcohol for youngest DD and me to self medicate.
SIL has volunteered to create a stone for Eva, and I will get to thank him in person on Friday.
