I opened the package after the mailman left
and was happy to find the five Clematis I recently ordered. That was the only "happy" in this story.
The plants came bare-rooted,
floating amid five empty pots, a mushy mass of wrapping paper, two not five (count 'em, only two) ID labels, one plastic stick, and liberated soil.
I have no idea which Clematis is which.
The only one I could identify is the one with the stick -- if I knew which variety that was -- as they all look alike: healthy and green and laughing behind their leaves
at my puzzled expression.
I have no doubt the plants will grow and thrive. They do look good, but how do I know where to plant each variety?
Some are small almost ground covers and others will stretch to the top of the garden shed roof. I am not a happy Clematis camper right now.
I did sent an E-mail to express my feelings to the company and
await their suggested solution to my problem.
I've dealt with this company many times before and this is the first bad experience I've had. There goes the flowering Clematis I'd planned for the new bed by the mail box.
Can't take a chance and plant a giant there.
Sigh! They do look good.
If that's the worst of my day, I'm doing great!
I love surprises and there's always room for JELLO. . . er, I mean another Clematis!
