Setting up a new design frame for a bed of pole beans today. Prototype.

So far I have had to redo each step at least one time, and 2 of the pieces of wood are so brittle, 1X2's, that 3 of them have broken. I'll get it though! Dog-ged determination, and it'll look decent too...

We have deemed this weekend as a commitment free weekend. Meaning no commitments for us for anything other than the farm! THAT...very rarely happens. But this weekend we are going to, in order:

1.) Build one more raised bed.

2.) Bring some of the dirt from the 3 beds above it down to the new one.

3.) Take last years composted manure pile and bring it over to gardens.

4.) Fill up raised beds to appropriate levels.

5.) PLANT GARDEN! Whoo Hoo!

6.) Move winters manure pile to new location to compost for next year.

7.) Get barrel and build appropriate pig waterer.

8.) Hang farm sign on barn.

9.) Hang plant hanger on barn (that I got for Christmas).

And ...if we get all that done, we still have a suitable pig house to build and get housing ready for the 25 meaties and 15 turkeys that will be here in 2 weeks!

I think I can...I think I can...I think I can...

Me, I'm taking another running start on that prototype, then going to my neighbor's place a mile away and help him with his garden...

I'm kind of Nakasita of Agriculture around here. (Nakasita is Sioux for good citizen whose voice is heard in council)

Weed now, plant soon and take advantage of that rain. We're in another drought at my place. I'm having to supplement my pasture for my horses. We SHOULD be moaning bc we SHOULD have to be mowing like every 3rd day, but it's too dry. <-- the only rain in town.

That is very nice of you to share your garden wisdom. Many are too insecure to share their "top secret ideas". I think that if we share both our success and failures and others listen, we will all become more successful. Enjoy the time with your neighbor!

Coffee is gross... just thought you all would like to know.

Anyways... today I don't really have a whole lot going on. I gotta get lil man out there to weed his pumpkins, which are taking off rather well! The watermelon on the other hand is kinda looking like it's sloooooowly starting.

This weekend I gotta get my 2nd corn crop in. This time I think I'm going to plant them a lil closer together than I did last time. Only about 75% of my corn came up... if that... when I planted the first round. :/

1 - Good morning
2 - Coffee
3 - More coffee
4 - let chocks and ducks out
5 - say hi to my favourite chicken
6 - go to work
7 - flirt with the cute young lady who runs the register
8 - come home 7 hours later
9 - think about what my favourite cucurbit is
10 - have a bath
11 - time for supper
12 - time for tea
13 - time for bed
14 - wake up and maybe consider doing something
15 - turn down all considerations, of course!
