What Did You Do In The Garden?

Today, dug the last of the potatoes, which was just about 5 pounds, froze 7 quarts of squash, picked a few blackberries and raspberries, which are about done, pulled some weeds. Looked and cannot find even ONE bean yet.

WEEDING is a constant job. We love to post our cleaned up beds, but ALL of us see this in our gardens every year. THIS year I am focusing on ridding my property of burrdock. I will be spending the next 30 days chopping down JUST THAT! When you cut them down (w/reciprocating saw) when they have green seeds, they DON'T grow back. Then I burn them. No seeds, no burdock.
Can't worry about what you attack or do. I spent 4 hours chopping up two limbs Sunday. I also cleared the north side of the house of saplings. Less of a job this year than last year, and I sent the saw underground to kill the roots as much as possible. Some people would have thought I should just get the limbs, but I have a cleaned up north bed, now to admire.
We love you, @Smart Red!!! :hugs :hugs :hugs
Prayers sent. :D

FINALLY, planted the potatoes that had been growing nice roots in my kitchen! I bought 2 cucumber plants (total 7 cucumbers between them), and put them in the same plot. WON'T have to water--it's be pouring buckets. Judging from my horse's rubber grain buckets it rained 4 inches last Tuesday night!!! I saw it when I let the dog out at 12:30PM--TOTAL heavy showers! :th

Yesterday began like this. Then, an early afternoon thunderstorm, complete with a little hail with the rain!

The nearest weather station recorded .9". A pretty big deal for this neck of the woods ... we now have 1.27" for the month.

I did very little in the gardens other than some harvesting. Oh yeah, I had the sprinklers on . Unnecessarily so, for a change ...

:) Steve
