Definitely an interesting idea.......but , really, not much of a challenge with just a 7 day duration.......would be great if the experiment lasted the entire growing season.

Yes, I agree but I have a few ideas of my own - I want to use it in another way. I have some long lengths of metal L-section I am going to incorporate into the structure ( to stop it blowing away -- it's very windy here in my garden). I want to make it a tall feature in my Vegetable garden -- I am thinking of growing my strawberries in the sides.

It is very cold here at the moment. I have just been out feeding & letting out the chickens & it still well below freezing (at noon......!! .. with bright sunshine). We are not used to this kind of weather -- it is now officially the coldest winter in 30 years in the south of the UK. In Scotland it's the coldest since records began (at the very beginning of the 1900's).

I need Spring to arrive..............urgently....!!

We are currently at 36*F. In our area, a new record has been set for the most consecutive days with lows at or below freezing, recently. Very unusual winter, for sure.

Many gardeners use wire cylinders and barrels for growing potatoes, over here. And there are strawberry pots (terracotta) that have holes all around it, for planting container strawberries.
But never thought about using the wire cylinders to grow other veggies.......going to have to think more about this possibility.
