yes, if you see a post from me we have power as the radio network i use doesn't have battery backup.

we do have a propane fueled fireplace so we're ok if we lose the power to run the furnace - we call it camping. :)
Please don't use tins to boil anything. There's metals in them that shouldn't be heated up. It contaminates food and water getting into the blood stream and our brain.

I've bought a stainless steel kettle and small saucepan. I also kept a camping gas hob for emergencies.

Please don't use food tins to heat up food or water. The metals when heated get into our blood stream and enter our brain.

um, these are cans that has the food in them to begin with and they are heated quite a bit during the manufacturing and canning processes so us warming them up isn't going to kill us, and besides i can tell you that Mom don't give a rip about any possible contaminants coming from cans or plastics. it's not like we do this all the time...
