Xerocles head in the clouds and feet firmly in the mud.

I hope your ducks appreciate all your hard work. They can show their thanks by eating bugs and laying eggs!

Ok. The runner ducks are officially ordered. Couldn't get sexed. Wanted 3 hens. Ordered 5 straight run. Be in on the 13th of March. Any bets on how many drakes I end up with?

Choose your odds. Technically you are 50-50 to get at least 3 females. This is from someone that once got 7 pullets out of an order of 7 free run buff orps. In the same order I got 4 males/2 females out of 6 straight run Speckled Sussex.

5 male 0 female - 1 in 32 or 3.1%

4 male 1 female - 5 in 32 or 15.6%

3 male 2 female - 10 in 32 or 31.3%

2 male 3 female - 10 in 32 or 31.3%

1 male 4 female - 5 in 32 or 15.6%

0 male 5 female - 1 in 32 or 3.1%

I ordered 50 straight run Delaware chicks one time. I got 11 pullets. We butchered a lot of chickens! I grew to hate those mean, despicable Delaware hens and slaughtered the lot of them 2 years later. I thought I'd get a 50/50 split, never saw a truck load of roosters coming at me! LOL LOL Good luck on the duckies!

Which is why I hate to order straight run when they also sell sexed. They use just enough females to get by with straight run. They just pick out most of the females..
