Interesting links, @flowerbug . Having started to decipher one of them & feeling my eyes start to cross, I'll dig into them tomorrow after a couple cups of strong coffee. ;) Potentially useful info, as it relates to bean breeding.

i think my brain starts bleeding after about three sentences, so you are doing better than me. :) most of the time when i'm looking at papers like this i'm trying to track down references to other things that are more specific to the questions i have myself. in these cases i didn't think i'd found anything specific to reverses, but more general and useful information. just knowing that seed coat patterns and colors are interlinked and reinforced by various other genes lets you know that it won't be a matter of getting one specific dominant or recessive trait to work, but instead that you'll likely have to get the beans with most of traits you are after to cross and then select from there.

and since my own experiences with how some bean crosses can massively blow up in complexity when you plant the results i'd say this is a big numbers game. the more i keep planting the more interesting it gets. :) i could use a few acres of space and a lot of minions and a genetic lab...

someone had mentioned to me before that they wanted some purple beans and i'd asked them if they knew what variety they were wanting and they didn't get back to me. today i got a chance to clarify what they want and i think they'll be happy with Purple Dove so i'll give them a sample of those to work with and see how it goes. :)

WOW, Something for Ducks to contribute to this conversation.
Victory Seeds sells Purple Dove bean seeds.
I bought tobacco seeds from them recently.
I noticed that they have a "Victory Points" program where you purchase and earn future gift certicificate codes, or give them to friends and family.
They sell ONLY heirlooms.

i checked out their listing to see what they said and read reviews. :) they've had them at least since 2014. says rare and in limited supply but i have several gallon jugs of them here if anyone else runs out and needs some. :)

@Bluejay77 Do you already have any growers for Striped Bunch? If not, as I was growing it this year anyway, I could save some seeds for the network.

It does not appear that I have anyone growing Striped Bunch this year. If you would like to turn in some new seed later this year I won't refuse them. Thank you that is so thoughtful.

I first got home from Florida on March 16th. The next day I took off for my brothers house in Canton, Illinois for about a 9 day visit and came back home from there on March 26th. I spent March 27th through the 31 first packaging more beans for two seed swaps, one in Pikeville, Ky. I drove to Pikeville on Friday April 1st. The Pikeville seed swap too place on Saturday April 2nd and one in Whitesburg, Ky the next day on Sunday. I traveled home today the 4th and tomorrow and will start going through all the seed orders and Network requests that have piled up all winter. I'm home to stay for the rest of this year. Flowerbug you can email your request anytime and I will fill in it's order when it comes up. I'm taking everything in order of date since requests and orders have been coming to me by email since early January.

I've sent you two emails. The second is the update with network requests and an order. Please use the second one, for its place in the order queue. It is different from the first. Thank you. And thank you for all you are doing. Most kind of you.
