still very soggy here. we haven't put out the rain guages yet to know how much rain we've gotten but it's puddles all over.

It was 28°f (-2°C) this morning with heavy overcast. I'm waiting to see if our 30% chance actually shows up as snow.
The radar map shows a storm twirling like an ice skater on the other side and in the Cascades. Both northern passes were closed for a time yesterday afternoon because of accidents. (Well, 3 northern passes if you count a state route which shuts down every winter.) It really seems as though the highway department just wait for the reckless drivers to wreck and then clean things up a bit with tow trucks and snow plows. I'm not being critical of maintenance but I'm sure they would appreciate a good deal more sensible driving in the passes.
The plant starts and I would appreciate a good deal more sunlight ☀️. Things in the South Window haven't quite gotten outta hand because the seedlings are growing so slowly. There are cool-season plants in the greenhouse but the cookie boxes of some of the more tender plants are still migrating in for a few more nights. No heat turned on out there yet because I can get away with that.

also, my psychological composure would sure benefit from fewer windstorms ... arborist coming Wednesday to tell me when this tree can go!

A little bit of a break, today.
From the winds and the morning temperature was just down to freezing. We haven't seen an afternoon high above 40°f (4°C) in a couple of days. There has been too much cloud cover.
Yes, @Rhodie Ranch , there was a couple of hours of snow yesterday but it was so light that the temperature just above freezing was enough that it melted on meeting the ground.
We have to have more sunlight for the plant starts. Maybe there will be a break for that. Temperatures will be back in the low 20's for the next few mornings. Even above freezing outdoors right now - the unheated greenhouse is in the 30's. I will have to have the heat on through the mornings, at least. ALL plants will have to come in at night which means putting down plastic on the floor in the utility room and delaying transplanting some of the seedlings a few more days. OR, I can be up at 2 AM and have the heat on for 10 - 12 hours. Decisions/Decisions
I like to compare our growing seasons with Devils Lake, North Dakota
. Mostly, it's the warmth through the growing seasons where we run neck and neck . Right now, Devils Lake has it tough with LOTS of SNOW and more on the way.

the west snowpack needs as much as it can get so i'm glad to hear they are picking up some more moisture while they can.
sorry for the cold, we're getting frosts here too and will be this coming week again. winter is not quite over yet...

We’ve been switching between them all week. Saturday we turned on the heater Sunday we turned on the air. Sunday we put the heater back on. Now the air is on. We’ve been jumping between the 80s and the 30s at crazy pace.

"The recent stretch of cold weather set records for the coldest 7 day stretch of weather for the month of April. Average temperatures for many locations were only in the mid 30 ..."
Average. It wasn't terribly cold overnight. I believe that only one location (about 150 miles away) had a single daily record low. The days have just not warmed because of overcast skies. Air movement has been mostly out of the mountains, often from the north.
Our common Pacific Northwest spring weather was/is here towering over the landscape with clouds, clouds and more clouds! Depending on sunshine, the greenhouse has not afforded a very good growing space.
We visited a friend's greenhouse, Friday. It was the same story. Supplemental lighting sure could have helped. Several more days of this.
