The Eden brothers one looks and sounds the most similar, I’ll have to give it a try!! I was just so surprised that burpee stopped carrying them. There were several articles listing the crème de La crème melon as one of the top 10 best tasting!
These were larger, easily the size of store bought honeydew. I’m lucky in that I have space for trying new varieties, but haven’t made the effort to save seed from things that may cross pollinate.
It was a fantastic melon, very aromatic, sweet and juicy. They were actually pretty large, easily the size of a store bought honeydew. Burpee said they are no longer making in so I’ll have to experiment with some other varieties.
Hi everyone! I was hoping for some assistance. I bought this seed packet a few years ago, and my whole family loved the melons I grew from it! The problem is I need to replace the packet and I cannot find these seeds anywhere!! Searching burpee shows nothing at all, I have a question emailed to...
Finally finished the last of my 4’x20’ beds! Though the last two I made a little smaller than 4’ wide so the hardware cloth is past the walls! Now onto the smaller beds and the perennial beds!!
Anyone have favorites? I plan on asparagus, rhubarb and berries, but would love some suggestions!
Oh that looks beautiful! I am such a sucker for pretty veggie gardens, lol! I have to agree, we are all engineers and always working! The pics I put up are the back 1/3 of my garden, I have a little greenhouse, potting bench and small storage shed, along with a little pond(still under...
Sure thing! Like I mentioned, the garden is under construction, and my cattle panel trellis are not yet attached and a little off centered! I picked up 10’x3’ roofing panels and hubby helped split them lengthwise into thirds
Wow! I remember those days! Working out of wine barrels was not easy, and the gophers didn’t take too long to dig through them! Those buggers are aggressive out here! Thanks so much for the warm welcome back.
My dream garden is raised beds with hardware cloth at the bottom to keep out gophers, higher fencing to keep out deer and lots of garden space! It’s definitely a work in progress, but so far I’ve built 5 of 6 beds that are 4’x20’, and a couple of smaller beds. I’ve salvaged the wood from my kids...
Hi everyone! I used to frequent this site often, about 10 years ago! I had to give up on vegetable gardening for a short time, but now am in the process of building my dream garden.
I’m Sarah from California, zone 9b. I hope to make everyone’s acquaintance once again!
I wish I knew! So are you supposed to leave all winter squashes on the vine as long as possible? I think I read somewhere that they cannot over rippen, but I'd hate to be wrong and waste the huge amount I have growing out there! Is delicata treated differently than most winter squashes?
So, My three sisters garden is doing FANTASTIC!! I have lots of delicata, a good amount of honeydew and the butternut is coming along... My problem is I don't know when to harvest!!
My searches have led to so much conflicting information that I'd rather ask if anyone has experience here. With...
Steve! your cabbage looks beautiful! I can never seem to grow cabbage... :/ I was really lucky this year with my succesion/companion planting. I have almost my entire garden in wine barrels, except for a 10x12 patch I used for a three sisters garden. Im the wine barrels I did Tomatoes/mesclun...
I made a white sauce (using chicken broth instead of milk) added some cooked ground turkey and a bunch of shredded swiss chard. When all thick and bubbly I poured it over some of my home made bread rolls that were starting to dry out. YUMMY!!! Even the kids chowed down!
I love it! Gardening is so exciting, someone mentioned on this forum that there is so much promise in one tiny little seed, and I completely agree! I've been gardening for about 6 years now, and I still get super excited over every new little seedling that comes up! Plus each year I want to try...
This year I simply put my seedlings in my garden (wine barrels) and then covered them with two liter bottles with the bottoms cut off. I left the labels on the bottles for a bit of shade, and took the caps off during the day, on again at night. I planted on an overcast day. I know that there...
