Today I cleaned out the goat shed, so all the wood shavings and droppings went onto the compost heap.
I used to put them straight on the garden, but got fed up of pulling out oats, they spill their grain and it grows in the borders, so I compost it all now.
I am not yet familiar with all the Zones. Back in England I used to have several Clematis growing on my fence lines. One that did particularly well was Nelly Moser (quite a common one) but a really good doer for me, and it was clay soil. When it got too large for the fence or a bit unruly I...
Thanks all for the welcome back.
What have I got growing, well at the moment nothing :(
I did have Zucinni, Pumpkin and potatoes ( planted two lots) both got washed away with heavy rains. I am really just experimenting with what I can grow at various times of the year.
Seeds to sow...
I have just checked on my last post and it's something like 6 months ago. Been so busy of late, won't bore you with the details, but hopefully I can now take part again.
Bit late in the day but Happy New Year to you all.

Over the last two days I have taken about 100 cuttings from various flowering plants, so fingers crossed.
I haven't really planted any foodstuffs yet, but during this week I am hoping to get some watermelon seeds in the ground. In theory I should be able to plant all year round with...
I planted just one a couple of years ago, never having done this before, I didn't know if you let them spread across the ground or trained them up a trellis/fence. So I did the latter, which meant because of the size and weight of the fruit, I had to restrict the number of fruits on the plant...
I re-use most of what everyone else is doing.
All my soda/juice/water bottle get cut down and used as planters for cuttings and seeds.
Bleach bottles I cut down quite shallow and use for feed dishes for the goats, When I can't get them clean, they then get used as shallow planters for...
Yes it will compost down eventually, unless you are in a hurry for it, I wouldn't worry, just let it do it's thing. You mentioned putting chicken scraps in. Do you mean left over bits of chicken meat/bones?
Some people do put meat in, I don't, I don't want the bother of rats etc. You could...
