You can see a line cracking in the ground where a row of beans is coming up IMG_20190619_190140732.jpg

Is Serene bean bush or pole? I'm getting worried because it's getting very tall, almost like it's going to vine soon

I found a description of "SERENE" in the 2001 Seed Savers Exchange yearbook under bush dry beans.

The description reads: Large lavender tan seed with dark purple swirls. Sprawling viney 20 inch plant, white blossoms. 4 inch flat pods. Good shell bean from Canada.

Now when the description reads viney. I wonder if they mean it's a semi runner?

I read my old posts and if Applefest grows true to how I discovered it last year, it's actually a bush. Maybe a bush version of Dana's Mercury IMG_20190620_153850931.jpg

    Babka's Yellow

A variety my grandma (Babka) grew for years, possibly from Slovakia. Yellow snap bush, black and orange skinny-ish seeds. The sprout stems actually are darker than I remember

Dana's Mercury was planted next to our compost and manure pile, the soil there was black as ebony and fluffy. A bean's dream. Look how big those leaves are!! IMG_20190620_154233969.jpg
